Apple End Restrictions Download Digital Music

Apple Inc as developer of iTunes and iPod has agreed to sell digital songs from iTunes without copy protection.

Previously, any music you want downloaded from Apple iTunes only be played through the communicator iPod or iTunes. But a new agreement with Sony BMG, Universal and Warner Music will end the digital copyright management (DRM), which was dominated iTunes.

“Starting this week 8 million songs can be downloaded for free at the end of the quarter and year all 10 million downloadable songs will be free,” said Apple vice president, Phil Shiller, Wednesday (1/7)
